The meeting was called to order at 7:34 pm by President Chuck Horner.

There will be a Clubhouse cookout tomorrow, the 1st Saturday of the month, starting at 11:30. To get to the Clubhouse, use the Laurel Street entrance. One cannot drive through from Sunset any more.

Bud Gallagher announced that the Windows 7 SIG will meet on December 12. The Windows 7 house party on the 24th of October followed the October 22 Microsoft launch party.

Bruce Hevelin announced that Diskkeeper is coming out with a new version between now and Thanksgiving.

            Chuck Horner

            Bayle Emlein

Presentations:

Abbas Mehdi, product manager for iolo Technologies, explained the tune-up and clean-up products that help restore functionality to a computer.

Everything you do on your computer adds to your Registry. This causes added demand for RAM as well. Windows is not self-healing. Iolo products clean out Registry entries that are no longer used and reclaim the space and RAM. This is a significant reason for the performance improvement that results from using the software.

System Mechanic Professional is a basket of 5 System Mechanic products.

After the break, Webmaster Diane George gave a presentation of the new website. She is now using opensource content management software. She is looking at a way of creating a members-only section so that we can take advantage of offers from companies. Each member is encouraged to follow the link to the new “Site” and register. There will be member forums and the opportunity to create a blog. Contact Diane if you’d like to know more.
