Who We Are

PC Community supports users of personal computers running versions of Windows, Linux, and DOS. Main meetings are held on the first Friday of each month, starting at 7:30 pm at the Hayward Adult School, 22100 Princeton St, Hayward. Check back here on the Monday prior to the meeting for the most up-to-date information on the next meeting. Special interest groups (SIGs) meet during the month at various locations in the East Bay. In addition to attending the main meeting and SIG meetings, PCC members refurbish and recycle donated computers for use by schools, seniors and the disabled.

April Meeting Photo Contest Results

First place winners in the photo contest are going to the Southwest Computer Conference in May. See the photos that won.

Digital TV will be here in February 2009

If you have a TV that works only with "rabbit ears" or a rooftop antenna, you will not be able to receive free TV after February 17, 2009, when all broadcasting will be in digital format. You need to have a TV Converter Box to convert the digital signal to analog. If you have cable, satelitte or other paid TV service, you will not need the converter box. You can obtain up to two $40.00 coupons (per household) to assist with payment for the converter boxes. For more information, go to http://www.dtv2009.gov.

Recycling Heroes

A big thank you! to the many members who spend their Saturdays and Wednesday evenings recycling motherboards, cards and CPU processors. The recycling has generated additional revenue for PC Community, allowing us to purchase additional parts and software licenses.

Computer Donations

Since July 2003, PCC has given away more than 400 refurbished computers with Microsoft Windows 98 SE or Microsoft Windows 2000 installed to a wide variety of members of the local community. Special thanks to all those members who hang out at the Clubhouse and work on the computers and to those who donated their computers for recycling. Newer computers are refurbished and older computers are broken down for recovery in recycling centers. Make a donation of computers or peripherals to PCC.

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse at the Hayward Adult School is open on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 am. to 4:00 pm. Please check the Calendar to get the most up-to-date information on the Clubhouse dates and times.
