Does having a PDA make you organized?
- It's only as good as your habits and philosophies.
What does it mean to be organized?
- simplicity
- clarity
- having time
- feeling calm
- saving money
- remembering things - ideas, events, facts
The Fundamentals:
- The 2 Minute FAD (file, act or delete)
- Touch it once
- Make lists
- Like with like
- Weekly or monthly review
-
Habits:
- Look at your PDA before leaving -home and office
- Set alarms, with intelligent times
- Plan for travel time honestly
- Empty your head regularly - if you can't enter text as fast as you think,
find another way
- Schedule down time
- Check your lists regularly: first thing in the morning, before leaving, etc.
- Have lists of: facts, goals, gifts,
Debate: Where are notes from a meeting kept?
- in the body of the calendar item? Memo, journal, daily memo?
Debate: Tasks and projects - Project work flow
- use categories? Each small item separate task? How I do it. Small project
and big project.
Other organizing I expect this group to be doing:
- on line banking
- quality email and phone
- organized emailing - auto filing, empty inbox
- NOT printing things out
- one bag
- Distribution lists
- Keyboard short cuts
- Uncluttered work space
- Timed email receive
- Simple, clear file naming
Still other basic organizing thoughts:
-Say no instead of yes. People agree to requests from others because they like to please them. Instead, realize that you have a right to say no. Creating plans or policies makes saying no easier. ("I'm sorry, I already have a financial planner." "I'm sorry, we already have a plan for giving to charities.")
-Stop being a slave to communication tools.
-Stop spending time to save money. Instead, spend money to save time. Don't drive across town to save a few cents on a grocery item. It's not worth your time. Figure out what you're worth an hour, then figure out if it makes sense to hire someone to do chores you're not fond of... if you are worth more than what it takes to pay a pro to do it, pay them.
-Cancel subscriptions to magazines you never get around to reading. Only read one newspaper per day.
-Cut back on television time. Only watch those shows you decide on beforehand. Tape them. Then turn off the television when the program is over. Cancel extra cable television packages for channels you rarely watch. Better yet, Give up watching television altogether.
-If you're not using something, get rid of it. Put an expiration date on items when you can't decide to keep them or not. "if I don't use this by___ I'll toss it"
-Make a plan for the weekend that doesn't involve work. Plan to spend more time with your family or with people who make positive contributions to your life. Stop spending time with people who are a drain on your energy or vitality.
-Carry a smaller wallet or purse. Start by cleaning out the one you've got. Get rid of unnecessary credit cards and other clutter that you don't use regularly.
-Make time for yourself. Set aside time each day to reflect quietly, go for a walk, plan for your future or meditate. Visit the park instead of the mall.
-Cut back on debt. Consolidate your different debts into one and pay it off. Put your credit cards in a spot where you won't be able to use them until you're debt-free. Track your expenses for a month, then cut back your spending on items you don't need. For instance, pack a lunch rather than buying one at work. Mix and match your outfits rather than constantly buying new ones.
-Consider renting a vacation home rather than buying. You won't be burdened by time (and money) spent in maintenance. Also, this allows you to visit a different spot each year.
-Plan time for a vacation every year. Some people claim "I haven't had a vacation in three years" as if it was a badge of courage. It isn't.
-Cut back on your children's planned activities. If they have to use a time planner to schedule their activities, and you spend all of your time taxiing them around, they're probably too busy.
-Live closer to your work so you don't have to drive.
-Take a moment each day to be grateful.

...I said I would find an answer to it, so I've got a couple of solutions for
the "couple's problem", that of 2 PDAs and 1 computer.
One option is to work with Outlook and the Pocketmirror stuff that's probably
already in place. This link leads to a couple of steps that one would follow
to that up:
http://chapura.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/chapura.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=tWR8OCQg&p_lva=&p_faqid=219&p_created=980557391&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTUwNyZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=
Another solution might be to go with Iambic's new Agendus.. and I like the
professional addition. As I understand it, all one needs to do is buy 2 licenses,
install them, and follow the proper set up instructions.

Hope that helps. Tys

How can I synchronize multiple handhelds to MULTIPLE Outlook profiles on one
PC?
Use this option if you want to synchronize multiple handhelds at the same PC
but you would like to keep the Calendar, Contact, Task and Note data for each
handheld separate in Outlook. If you do choose to use this option, Outlook will
need to be shut down and restarted each time you want to access the data for
each separate handheld within Outlook.
You must also create multiple profiles in Outlook for each separate handheld.
To create a new Outlook user profile, refer to Chapura FAQ - PM047 -
http://chapura.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/chapura.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=24
"How do I create a new user profile in Outlook?".
After creating a new Outlook profile for each handheld as described in PM047,
please continue with the following steps:
1. On your PC click ““Start/Programs/PocketMirror/PocketMirror Settings”.
2. From the ““Chapura Settings”” screen, click the "New"
button to create a new user name for any handheld devices that have not yet
been synchronized at this PC.
3. Open Outlook and when prompted, select the Outlook profile that corresponds
to the handheld device that will be synchronized with this profile.
4. Double check to make sure the Outlook folders (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks
and Notes) in this profile contain the correct Outlook data. Note: If this profile
is new, then the Outlook folders should be empty.
5. Synchronize, making sure the correct handheld is in the HotSync cradle. This
will transfer any existing handheld data into this Outlook profile.
Follow this same process for any additional handheld devices.
To synchronize multiple handhelds to ONE Outlook profile, refer to Chapura
FAQ PM046 -
